Mood Board

This mood board reflects the ideas and theme of my horror trailer.  This includes the involvement of children to represent the young child used in my trailer and her vulnerability within the narrative, which is common in some horror films. I have also included other images from psychological horror films including Split, Psycho and The Shining. This was to show the sub-genre of ‘The Perfect Family’. I have also included dominant males as this was very important to highlight within our trailer as the main antagonist we used was a male character following the conventions of our psychological thrillers such as the man we see in ‘Split’. I have also included iconography of locations, this includes an isolated barn house and the dark wood area. These are both conventional towards the horror genre. As the isolated house elicits an element of fear in the mind of the audience as when the antagonist strikes the audience are aware they are in isolation and no neighbours can help, the woods also add to the conventional horror genre. Finally, this mood board I have created will also reflect the characters which I have incorporated in our horror trailer, this includes a male psychological antagonist, and protagonists including a vulnerable female and her young daughter. The daughter can also be considered in relation to the final girl theory by Laura Mulvey.

In what ways does my media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
